WHY do turtles live such long lives?

Turtles live more than 200 years on average. Many people believe that turtles have a slow metabolism and therefore do not age because of their leisurely motions and rhythm of life.

In reality, they have special, durable internal organs.

Even as individuals age, their organs continue to function as they did when they were younger.
