WHY does black absorb more heat than other colors?

According to physical laws, the color of any object is determined by the wavelengths of light that it reflects. All objects absorb all wavelengths of light, but only reflect certain ones. The absence of reflected light is what makes an object appear black. Because black reflects nothing, all the light and thermal energy that it absorbs remains trapped inside it.
