WHY are tsunamis occurring?

 Tsunamis are large waves that can be caused by a variety of underwater and above-water events, such as earthquakes, landslides, and explosions. The strength of a tsunami is typically related to the strength of the event that caused it. Underwater earthquakes, for example, can create powerful tsunamis, while smaller underwater landslides may produce less significant waves. Megatsunamis, which are extremely large tsunamis, can be caused by above-water landslides or the breaking off of large chunks of ice from glaciers, a process known as "glacier calving."

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to accurately predict the occurrence of earthquakes or tsunamis. Scientists are continuing to research and develop methods for predicting these types of events, but predicting earthquakes and tsunamis with a high degree of accuracy remains a challenge.
