WHY do we see twinkling stars?

Before 1887, all athletes began their races from a standing position. However, American sprinter Sherrill was inspired by observing a kangaroo and decided to try a different starting technique. Kangaroos crouch down just before beginning their jumps, so Sherrill decided to do the same. Despite criticism and opposition from the judges and spectators, Sherrill used the new method and immediately won the race.
